you dirty boy!

Just some pics of Dude making dirt angels.  Yes, he had fun doing this.

He didn't start out this way--he was innocently playing in the dirt with his cars.  Then Joey came out with a bucket of water and soaked him with it.  Got Bum too, but she was grounded for some reason...who knows.

And I didn't mind, since the tub's about 5 feet away from the front door.

Hopefully this doesn't happen again...this year, anyway.

house tidbits

Just a little something to add as I go off to sleep...my house is being sold!!!  I guess we were too demanding...lol.  Well, actually, it's been on the market for about a month, and my sources (actually, Joey) tells me it has been officially sold.  Just the closing junk to go through, I guess.  And from what I understand, we'll still be building manager/super for the house, with a little more authority.  Yay.

It's hard to believe we've been here for a year now...and to think about all the work WE put into it.  Inside, outside (especially), and the tenants themselves.  What a year it's been.  This house is starting to look up...lol.  And we have sooooooo much pride in what we've accomplished.  Again, yay.

Oh, and you know the apartment we almost took last year?  You know, I wrote about it here and here.  Well, Joey and the kids were taking a walk up to Grandma's the other day, and while walking past that same house, guess what he saw?  The damn thing on fire!!!  Don't worry--no one was hurt in the fire, just a little siding on the side of the house was damaged.  But today while driving past it, we noticed a little sign on the door...CONDEMNED?!?  Must have been something electrical...good thing the guy gave our deposit back...lol.

I'll be updating more tomorrow, since I have off...I no longer have to work Sundays, but more on that tomorrow.  I have to *yawn* get to bed.

the 4th, part 2

Where did I leave off?  Oh yeah...the playground.  Ashley wanted to see the gorge, so we went on a little nature walk to show her.  I know I showed the gorge here before, but for those of you who weren't here last year, here ya go...

Then we went home and ate some more grill food.  When it got dark, we went up to Montage to see some fireworks.  Our neighbor, Steve, came with us...Joey stayed home this time.  Sorry, no firework pics this year...I did get loads of video of it though.  When I get a faster connection, I'll probably put them up then.  Like last year, the traffic was a bitch afterwards.

Luckily, I learned from that experience.  We got this huge checkerboard rug set for Christmas, and I had put it in the car earlier in the day, along with some blankets to sit on.  So we set it up and played.

We also had a frisbee, so they were playing with that in the parking lot.  We brought snacks and drinks with us too, since we knew we were going to be there for a while.  How long were we there, you ask?  Put it this way--the fireworks were over at about 9:30...we didn't leave there until about 11:55.  Got home in 10 minutes, though.  I would consider that a lesson learned...lol.

So like I said, we had a good day, considering the circumstances.

our 4th, part one

I guess I should start where I left off...

Our 4th was awesome, despite some setbacks.  We did what we did last year, with some added stuff.  My niece, Ashley, came along too.  We kicked off the day with a little grillin', then went to the pool and did a little chillin'.  Everyone had fun in the pool.  It wasn't that packed, since the nice meteorologists were calling for rain.

Unfortunately, we had to cut it short when after a couple of hours, Bum came out of the pool to show us this:

There were spots like this all over her...we had seen it before (from Grandma's blow-up pool), but nothing like this.  So we rinsed her off, and called it quits there.  (Update about that--she's going to an allergist in about 3 weeks...that's the soonest they could get her in.  In the meantime, she's on Claritin, and it's working fine.)

So we went home, got changed, gave her a bath, then went to another park in the area.  The kids played in the creek, and Ashley caught a (very strong) crawfish/crayfish.

Then we were bored with that park, so back up to Nay Aug we went.  The playground up there is just awesome.

back in a few with part 2.

baby you can drive my car

What a way to come back...just in time for the weekend assignment!!!

Your Weekend Assignment #124: How did you learn how to drive? How many tries did it take?  What was the first car that you bought?

Extra credit:
Got a picture of that first car?

This is an eeeeeeeaaaaaassssssyyyy one.  Since no one in my family wanted to teach me how to drive, my mom paid for driving lessons.  It took me two times to get my permit, but only once to get my license.  What scared me that day was that (1) it was raining and I didn't know how to turn the wipers on, and (2) the girl who went before me hit a curb while parallel parking, and FAILED.  But, nonetheless, I did it.  My first car?  A 1979 Toyota Celica GT.  Hatchback.  Looked like a bumblebee.  Don't believe me?  Take a look.

Extra credit this week, baby.  Paid  $475 for it with my shiny new Discover card.  In other words, I never paid for it...lol.

yay

As you can see, I'm back.  On my own computer.  All it needed was a new power supply...phew.  The funny thing is, we had another, almost identical, computer sitting in Bum's room...and it took us THIS LONG to figure out that we could take the power supply from one and put it into the other.  DUUUUUUUH.  So, tonight, that's exactly what we did.  Man, that was kind of confusing--figuring out where all the wires go.  I closed my eyes and crossed my fingers when it was all done, and the little light came on!!!  WOOHOO!  So here I am, back with y'all.  And once again, I had to delete all 736 e-mails that were in my mailbox.  Oy.  Remind me next time my computer dies to shut off all journal alerts.  Thanks in advance.  Now on to the fun!

dammit again

Ok...I know I haven't been on here in like, forever.  But I have good reason...MY COMPUTER DIED.  Literally.  It was on when we left the house, and when we came back, it was off.  We tried to turn it back on, but it didn't work.  We tried using another power cord, but no.  So now I'm sending it to the shop for repairs on Monday.  I'm writing this from my neighbor's computer...but who knows when I'll be back up and running at home.  But when I do...WAIT...I have LOADS to tell and show.
