i'm it

I knew this was going to happen...eventually.  Thanks to Leslie, I've been officially tagged for this.  She didn't actually leave a comment like she was supposed to (bad her), but since I get an alert for her journal...duh.  Anyway...

Five weird things about ME:   Here are the rules; the first player of this game starts with the topic. Five weird habits of yourself and people who get tagged need to write an entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don’t forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says “You are tagged” (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.

Here we go...

1.  I am definitely, without a doubt, a packrat.  I still have a stereo from my 16th birthday (and it still works), a teddy bear from Christmas 20 years ago, my high school honor society sweatshirt (which is all sorts of yuck now), and other things that I should have got rid of years ago.  But I just won't.  HA.

2.  I am very picky with what I eat, in a strange way.  Example--I hate cheese, but I'll eat Cheez Doodles, mozzarella sticks, and pizza.  Same thing with tomatoes--I'll eat sauce, but not the round, red, raw thing.  Ewww.

3.  I don't bite my nails, I rip them right off.  Sometimes to the point of blood in the know, the end where it comes off.  Maybe that's my nervousness talking.  Who knows.

4.  Like Leslie, I talk to myself, and answer too.  And I feel like a complete idiot if I'm caught.

5.  I have no patience when it comes to my kids, but with someone else's I do.  You'd think it would be the other way around, but nope.  Maybe that should be one of my resolutions this

So there...that's my 5.  Now who to pick on.  Hopefully these people didn't do it yet...

1. Kristina

2. Kara

3. This week's guest editor, Amanda

4. Liza

5. Robin

There.  Done.

resolution assignment

Weekend Assignment 92: Do you Have New Year's Resolutions for 2006? If so, share one (or more, if you like).

Extra Credit:
How did you do on your resolutions for 2005?

I usually don't do resolutions, only because I end up not keeping them.  But for assignment's sake, I think I'll do it this year.   Here we go...

1.  I will get a decent job this year--not one that's going to eventually screw me over, transfer me out of my transportation league, mess with my schedule after I get used to it, etc.

2.  I will get my teeth fixed.  This one I definitely have to do, since my 11-year (!) reunion is being planned for either May or July.

3.  I will stop worrying about EVERYTHING.

Phew!  That took a lot of thinking.  Hopefully I'll stick to them...

For the extra credit, as I said before, I didn't make any resolutions last year, because I knew I wouldn't do them.  A few years back, my resolution was to pay off my debts and make my credit record look good.  By February, I gave was too much.  Oh well...

wireless 411 fun

I was reading back entries of Surrounded By Nincompoops when I stumbled across this entry -- Did Your Ass Just Dial My Number? -- and it got me thinking.  So many asses call me at work (wireless 411).  And not just the  I think there's one reason why I like my job--there are people out there who are more weird and stupid than I am.  It's funny...just thinking about it.  Here's some.

Example #1

Are you sure the number's not there?

a. I got the number yesterday.

b. I was just there.

c. I'm sitting right in front of it!

Example #2

Me:  Do you know what city in Long Island "Whatever" is in?

Duh:  Sunrise Highway.

Me:  No, not the street it's on--what city?

Duh:  Long Island, Sunrise Highway.

(Duh eventually gave up.  Without a number.)

Example #3

(Keep in mind, we don't have maps, and we're not in the city they're calling for.)

I need...

a. Papa John's, Domino's, Cici's, Roundtable, Pizza Hut, etc.

b. Walgreens, CVS, Long's, Eckerd, etc.

c. Walmart, Target, Meijer, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.

d. McD's, Burger King, Hardee's, Wendy's, KFC, etc.

...closest to where I am.  Do you have the number?

(I can go on and on with this one.)

Example #4

You Southerners, such as Brandi (ya know I luv ya hun), might get a kick out of this one:

DO WHAT NOW? (I think it's cute...especially with the drawl...I hope I'm not offending anyone with this)

There's more, but I can't think of them...when I do, I'll be sure to post.

ho hum

Sorry I haven't updated in a few know, it helps if there were things going on.  It's been boring here in the KKMom house--I've been working, the kids weren't home until this afternoon, and well, that's about it.  This weekend, however, is  Tomorrow, the kids are going back to Grandma's so they can go the New York City for the day on Friday with Grandma, Papa, and Uncle Mark...they better bring back some good pics--he's the one with the nice camera I was drooling over the last week.

Then on Saturday, we're going to First Night Scranton (check out the link)...something different that we can do with the kids.  I have to work until about 8pm, so Joey's going to bring them down early and kick off without me...then when I get free from hell with fluorescent lighting, we'll go eat and do stuff.  Yay!  Can't wait.

the rest of the holiday

Hope everyone had a good  Ours was good...after I wrote the entry yesterday, we went up to the in-laws' house.  We were there the majority of the day--we didn't get home until about midnight.  We opened some presents, ate some food, and fun was had by all.  All the family gathers there for the holidays, and yesterday was no exception.  Joey's always-complaining-about-something aunt was there, and she told us the reason it was raining (yup, we had a little bit of a green Christmas) was because we sent her a Christmas card in the mail.  The Thanksgiving twit was there, only she wasn't so much of a twit this time around.  The rest of his cousins were there, too, making it interesting at the house.

His one brother brought his 4-year-old daughter, who in my book is very ungrateful.  When Grandma gave her presents, she said she didn't want them.  When Joey's cousin gave her a Cabbage Patch Kid, she said the same thing.  (Of course, Bum spoke up and said she'd take  She doesn't talk to anyone, sometimes not even her dad.  She lives with her mom, and who knows what she's putting into that little girl's head.  She might be my niece, but I won't get her anything anymore...last year she did that to what we brought for her...she tossed it aside, with no thank you, no nothing.  My kids NEVER did that--they were taught better.

Anyway, towards the end of the night, Joey and I were watching TV, and one of his cousins brings me a picture of Joey when he was little...oh my god--Home Fry looks just like him--blond hair and all.  That was it--we all (with the exception of Joey...he hates his pic taken, therefore he hates when people look at pics of him too) were going through his mom's collection of photos.  We were all laughing at some of them...they were from the 80s and earlier...too funny.  I also found a few of the kids I'm gonna get scanned.  No pics of Joey, though...he would kick my butt if I did

So now the kids stayed at Grandma's house, and we're left to clean the mess left here.  I'm not kidding--it looks like a toy cyclone hit our living room.  Fun.

ho ho ho

The kids are playing with their new toys, so I decided to come on and say hi.  I've been up since the crack of, wait a minute--the sun wasn't up yet when I heard the words "SANTA WAS HERE!".  Looked at the clock--6:00am.  Oy.  Of course, it didn't help that we set the alarm for that time.  Bum opened her gifts first...she got a Cabbage Patch Kid, a huge butterfly coloring book and crayons, the Bratz Fashion Mall that she wanted, and some other stuff.  After she opened everything, Dad started putting it all together.  Home Fry didn't get up til about 8.  He's been a little under the weather, so that was to be expected.  When I saw him moving around in bed, I went in there and told him it was Christmas, and he perked right up and ran into the living room to see what Santa left for him.  He got the wrestling ring, a remote control dinosaur and cars, a big dinosaur coloring book, and more.  They were both happy with what they got, and they haven't gone to Grandma's house yet, where more gifts await them.  The happiness came as a surprise, especially with Bum.  Last year, she received more, including a bike, but wasn't too happy.  This year, she hasn't stopped playing with anything--yet.  And if they're happy, I'm happy.  As the saying goes, 'tis better to give than to receive.  Me and Joey kicked some serious Christmas butt.  Yay.

Hope your day is going as well as mine.  Merry merry, all.

'twas the night before christmas...

The kids are in bed, dreaming about what they asked Santa for, and hoping that he remembered.  All the gifts we ordered came as promised.  The presents are all wrapped and ready to be put under the tree.  The cookies and milk are sitting on at the kitchen table, with a sign made by Bum for Santa to "sit hear".  The magic reindeer food (oatmeal and glitter) is sitting on the porch in a small, neat pile, waiting for Rudolph and his gang to chow down.  It's Christmas Eve, and all is nice, quiet, and relaxed in the KKMom house.  Hope yours is going as well as mine is!

bitchfests, booze, and santa!

It's been a few days since I wrote, and so much has happened!  This is gonna be a long one, probably a two-parter.

Let's start off with the bitchfest.  You remember the camera I said I got?  Well, I got it, but only after I put up a fight for it.  When I got home from work Thursday, I got an email saying that it in fact had been delivered, to the front door of my house.  Joey said he didn't get it, so I assumed stupid FedEx dropped it off downstairs.  (Sidenote--my address clearly states "2nd floor" on it for everything that's shipped.)  Pissed off, I went down to the girl's apartment and asked her about it.  She said she didn't get anything.  When I told her I got the confirmation on my computer, she still denied it.  Then I saw it sitting on her dresser, I told her that it was mine.  She said no, that it came for her.  I was like HELL NO IT DIDN'T!  She finally gave it to me, but only after she said her name was on it.  Mind you, we have the same initials, but my last name is a hell of a lot longer than hers.  DUH.  The next day (y'day) I called FedEx to complain--they basically said "oh well...", since they didn't require a signature for it.  Then I called my landlord and told him about it...I bitched at him, too.  Told him about her, told him to call her and tell her that it's a federal offense to open someone else's mail, told him about our broken toilet, and finally told him not to blow me off because I'm female.  OH YEAH.  Then I called the post office and told them about the fact that once again, I haven't been getting mail.  I was on a rampage!!!  (By the way, the landlord had a plumber out to the house within an hour of me calling...lmao.)

more in part 2.

bitchfests, booze, and santa...part two

We'll skip the booze for now, since I'm trying to go in order of occurance.  Yesterday was Home Fry's play--again. He was so cute as Santa Claus(again)!!  They all did a wonderful job--singing and dancing!  I'm waiting on pics, so when I get them, I'll be sure to share.  Oh, and an update on Sarah (the girl who had the seizure)--she's doing fine--I talked to her mom today, and she's ok for now...she's still awaiting word about the EKG/EEG (I can't remember which one).

On to the booze.  Me and Joey got invited to his brother's house for a party last night...WOOHOO!  Since his mom lives right under his brother, he went up earlier in the day.  I got the bus to drop me off there after work, and the drinking started not too long after that.  I started on fuzzy navels, but when everyone did a shot of Sambuca, that was it.  That was all I drank for the rest of the night--I lost count at 6.  I even did one before I went home.  Don't worry--I didn't drive home--duh, no car.  We got a ride...if we walked, I wouldn't be here--I'd be in jail for public drunkeness.  The kids stayed at Grandma's house too.  I was soooo drunk--I don't remember going up the steps to the house, or how.  I went on the computer and IM'ed my friend, Donnie, but he wasn't on.  When I talked to him earlier today, he said I left him about 25 IMs.  Wow...oops.

I think that's it...if I think of anything I left out, I'll be sure to let ya know.

play postponed

This morning was Home Fry's play.  Joey's mom came, and brought his brother's camera...I'm jealous!  It's one of those ones I want...optical zoom, etc.  Grrrr.  Anyway, we got there on time, pulled Bum out of class to see her little brother be Santa.  He wanted her there too.  All the parents had to wait in the foyer, since Mrs. Guerra (their teacher) didn't want the parents to see what was going on yet.  There were so many people there, it was a surprise that everyone fit into the classroom.  Finally, we were allowed in, and we all sat down.  They all looked so cute, in their soldier, snowflake, and other costumes.  Home Fry was soooooo adorable!

Unfortunately, about 5 minutes into it, one of the kids collapsed.  It was Sarah, one of Home Fry's buddies.  She started having a seizure.  Immediately, the other kids were rushed out of the room.  Joey told me to grab Bum and get the hell out of there--she didn't need to see that either.  We waited out in the hallway--the kids were in another room reading a story, with really no knowledge as to what was going on (which is very good--duh).  A few minutes later, the parents were all coming out of the room, saying she was turning blue.  Some of the parents were crying, some were in just plain shock, including me.  Long story short, the nurse gave her CPR, the paramedics came, and she was ok.  We had the option of taking Home Fry home, but we thought that taking him out would raise questions with him, so we decided to leave him there.  As were leaving, we found out that Sarah was still in a seizure state, but she was going to be okay.  Mrs. Guerra also told us that they were going on with the show tomorrow.  I'm going to try and call her mom tomorrow to see how she's doing.  I'll update when I get more info.  In the meantime, I know you don't know her, but keep her in your hearts...

lick it and stick it!

Now get your minds out of the gutter!!!  lol...just kidding.

I finally got my all Christmas cards out...both online and snail mail.  The latter took longer, since the stupid mailman doesn't like to walk the extra 20 feet from girl downstairs' maillbox to ours.  Hmph.  He better make his way up here soon--at this point, I'm expecting 3 packages, all via USPS.  Lazy bum.  He's been like this since we moved in--it takes us forever to get some things...and sometimes the maildude puts our mail in HER mailbox.  Usually she brings it up to us--and then there's times when who knows (we're still missing a birthday card).  One time she opened mail the was clearly addressed to me--granted, we have the same initials, but my last name is a hell of a lot longer than hers...DUH.  I called the post office and everything.  I'm rambling now, so I'll stop.

I'm getting a throw away camera for tomorrow--his teacher told me this morning that "he's the best Santa she's ever seen--no kidding".  Makes you feel all tingly inside.  Hee hee hee.  Hopefully he doesn't choke in front of all those parents.  Wish him luck, and I'll post tomorrow night!  Later!

By the way, if you want me to send a card to you, let me's cute!

I dunno...I was looking at my Bloglines today, and thinking about moving over to Blogger.  Not because just about everyone who left J-land went there, but there's more things to do, like advanced HTML and what not.  I have it set up, just haven't posted anything to it yet.  From the looks of it, there's pros and cons for both AOL and Blogger.  AOL's alerts are easy to get, easier to comment on, and the layout is nice.  Blogger gives you better HTML, more "about me" space, and you have more freedom with the layout features.  As far as pics go, I use Photobucket anyway, so I'm not losing the FTP space--I never could get the hang of that anyway.

Like I said before, I dunno.  I'm on the fence...and I'm probably gonna stay here for a while.  It's kinda comfy.  That and I suck at making decisions.

my mini fiasco

I was bad this morning...I was panicking.  Everything was fine until I started reading my e-mail.  There was a lot there, since I hadn't been on since Saturday.  There were some journal entry alerts, some comments, and a couple from PayPal, regarding my purchase on Saturday.  When I opened it, it was a confirmation that it was sent.  I decided to scroll down, and that's when I lost it.  It said my item was being sent to Las Vegas.  I had to look twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things.  LAS VEGAS???  What the hell?  Last time I checked, I lived in PA.  I immediately was on the phone with PayPal, screaming my head off at the poor guy.  What the hell is this e-mail?  I need this package under my tree on Christmas Eve!  Do you have this person's phone number?  I want my money back!  The guy at first had a problem pulling my account...duh!  That should have been my first sign that I was going to have a cow.  PayPal has no idea how this happened.  Then he tells me that I have to contact the seller, but only by e-mail, since they have no phone number for them.  By this time, I was furious.  I eventually got off the phone and wrote the seller a letter,  and it wasn't too pretty.  And then I had to go to work.

Long story short, got home, checked e-mail, saw response from seller saying that it was shipped to the right place, was much happier and relieved.  PHEW.

me got a booboo

I didn't mention it when I wrote this morning, because I was in a hurry so I wouldn't be late for work.  First thing this morning, even before I had my first cup of coffee, I fell on some ice on my way to the store.  I fell right on my ass, with my elbow getting hurt in there somewhere.  My feet just went right out from under in slow motion--I saw it coming.  I don't know if anyone saw me...they were probably laughing--I dunno.  I went into the store, and got what I went for and went home.  And the worst part?  The thing I went over for in the first place--coffee--was the one thing I forgot!  So I ended up going over again...duh.  Nice way to start my day.  Now I have a bruise on my butt and my elbow, some scrapes on my hand, and my back hurts.

An update on eBay--I won the toy!  And only one of them!  Should be here in time for Santa to deliver it on Christmas day...WOOHOO!  Maybe this month isn't too bad after all.  Now if I can only find a job.

da 5'er

Here's this week's 5'er...go play!

1.  Do you ever go to someone's journal and just think to yourself, "Oh they go again...get over it already!"  And do you think your answer is naughty or nice?

Honestly, I do think that way sometimes.  I see that in a few journals I read, but for the most part, the journals I have alerts for are interesting.  If  I didn't think they were interesting, I wouldn't have an alert for them...duh!  I think my answer is nice...

2.  I kinda think naughty can be fun and nice can get boring. Tell us something you have done lately that was naughty.

Hmm...naughty?  I can't think of anything.  Honestly.  Well, other than lying to customers at work...but that's a normal thing.

3.  Have you ever used the "If you are naughty Santa won't bring you any presents" line on your kids?  And if they remained naughty did you ever withold their presents?

I lost count on how many times I've said that...and that's just this year.  As far as withholding, I've never done it yet, but I think I'm doing that this year--with Bum's Polly Pocket she asked for.  She's been so nasty lately...

4.  If you were at the work Christmas party and your "naughty" boss gave you a squeeze on your back side would you tell anyone?

Well, being that all my bosses are female and married, I don't think that's gonna happen.  But if it did, I don't think I'd tell anyone...I'd probably be too trashed to remember

5.  Tell us about an unexpected nice thing someone has done for you this December...or something nice you have done for something else that wasn't expecting it.

Well, with all that's been going on at work lately, a co-worker, knowing my situation, offered to help me pay to get my car fixed, insured, I could drive to work.  I don't know if I'm going to take her up on the offer, but I think the gesture is nice enough to mention here, and I sure as hell wasn't expecting it.

stuff about home fry

In other news, yesterday was Home Fry's gift exchange at school.  What did he get, you ask?  Close your eyes...what do you see?  That's what he got.  The person who was supposed to get him something didn't bring anything.  I don't blame him--I blame the parents...they do stuff like this all the time, so I'm not really surprised.  I think me and Joey were more bummed than he was.  That sucks.  He got totally screwed.  Oh well.  Just adds to the stuff going wrong this month.

In better news about Home Fry, I can't wait until Thursday--that's when he's gonna be Santa Claus in the kindergarten program.  I couldn't get the day off, but I go in late enough that I can still go.  His teacher said he's doing awesome with it--his shyness is gone...woohoo!  And hopefully my new little camera will be here, so I can take and post pics!!!  YAY!

And as far as his present on eBay goes, we're still (unfortunately) winning both of them, and the auctions end later today.  Uh-oh.

Yep--I'm officially looking for another job.  They're forcing me to go to the other office, and I can't get there.  It's about 20 miles away, and unless I want to spend about $15 a day, and never be home (because of the Greyhound schedule), I guess I need a new job.  I almost made the cut of who stayed...if one more person volunteered, I wouldn't be going through this.  So now I have exactly one month to find something new.  Either that or collect unemployment, since I can do that.  At least I'm not as bad off as the managers--they got as much warning as we did, but they didn't get promised anything.  Meaning when all this goes down, they virtually have nothing left--no job, no pension, nothing.  I feel really bad for them.  Oh was good while it lasted...who am I kidding?

Once again, I missed the bus to come home last night.  Had to wait until 9pm outside.  So I decided to go over the mall to get some Christmas cards.  I didn't get home til after 10.  When I got here, boy did I hear it.  Everyone was worried about me--stupid me didn't call and let them know I was going to be late.  Oops.

let it snow, let it sleet, let it rain?

Yesterday, it was snowing.  Last night, it was sleet/freezing rain.  It was bad enough that the school district gave the kids a delay this morning.  From the forecast, there wasn't going to be school today.  Oops.  I bet they were kicking themselves in the ass--This morning, the roads were in better condition than they were last night.  It rained the rest of the night, and the temperature went up to about 38.  So whatever fell last night was gone by this morning, if not taking some of what fell last week with it.  HAHAHA.  I really want to make a snow fort!!!  Doesn't matter anyway--I only have one day off between now and Christmas...that's right--I didn't tell you--the needs of the business changed, and they dropped the amount of people they need for I get to stay home!!!  YAY!

til next time...=)

wah wah wah

I'll admit it--I was a whiney baby last night.  As you all probably know, we got some snow here last night.  I was at work when it started falling, and I wanted to get out early.  That way I could go over to the mall and get a gift for Home Fry's school gift exchange, and still make the 8:00 bus.  And they were letting people go home.  So I signed up, and you know what--I was passed over!  Meaning they forgot about me and went to the next person on the list, who got to go home at 4:45.  How rude!  Anyway, as you can see I wasn't too happy about that.  So I asked one of my friends if they could give me a ride home, because I hadn't called for the bus, and I would have to wait until 9 for the next one.  Her hubby said no, because the roads were bad.  Oh well.  Then, around 7, someone else got to go home early.  I was like, WHAT THE HELL?  They told me they only had "e-time" until 7:45, not 8:00.  That set me the point of silent tears.  I was pissed.  Long story short, I stayed until 8, not happy the whole time.  (I know I probably blew the situation out of proportion, but for some reason, my emotions are on the fritz.)

After work, I tried to run the two blocks to the bus stop, only to see the bus driving away.  Oh well, I thought, I guess I can make the most of it by going to get his gift for school.  So I went over the mall, and I found this little Crayola playdoh thingy, and it was only $4, so I got it.  I had some extra cash on me, so I decided to treat myself to a latte or something, being that I had a miserable day so far.  I got a chai, and it was good.  By this time it was about 8:30, so I decided to go out and wait for the next bus.  Outside by the bus stop, I found this nice little spot on the ground under a warm air vent, and despite it being freezing cold outside, I was nice and toasty.  As I waited, there was a truck driver whose truck had broken down, and we started a was cool.  I felt bad for him, since he still had a way to go, but with the weather (snow, sleet, freezing rain), he wasn't really going anywhere.  Before you know it, he was leaving, and the bus came.  Woohoo!  And that was my day.

caroling through j~land!

I think Kara started it this time, so I'm linkin' back to her!

*This fits into Teresa's theme too--for every journal that's decorated and linked to her, she's gonna donate to Toys for Tots!

You know the deal--go to other people's houses (journals), sing your favorite carol, and leave your mark.  And get your mind out the gutter--no peeing on journals.  It'll make your computer smell bad.  So get to it!  But while you're here, have some eggnog and cookies--they're good. ;-)

My favorite Christmas song??  This is SO me.  Here ya go...

The first thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me
Is finding a Christmas tree

The second thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me:
Angry husband:
Rigging up the lights
And finding a Christmas tree

The third thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me
Man getting over being drunk:
Rigging up the lights
And finding a Christmas tree

The fourth thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me
Exhausted man:
Sending Christmas cards
Rigging up the lights
And finding a Christmas tree

The fifth thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me
Five months of bills!
Sending Christmas cards
Rigging up the lights
And finding a Christmas tree

The sixth thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me:
Nervous wife:
Facing my in-laws
Five months of bills!
Oh, I hate those Christmas cards!
Rigging up these lights!
And finding a Christmas tree

The seventh thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me:
Nervous wife's husband:
The Salvation Army
Facing my in-laws
Five months of bills!
Sending Christmas cards
Oh, geez!
I'm tryin' to rig up these lights!
And finding a Christmas tree

The eighth thing at Christmas that such a pain to me:
Whining kid:
And whataya mean "YOUR in-laws"?!?
Five months of bills!
Oh, making out these cards
Honey, get me a beer, huh?
What, we have no extension cords?!?
And finding a Christmas tree

The ninth thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me
A tired father:
Finding parking spaces
Facing my in-laws
Five months of bills!
Writing out those Christmas cards
Now why the hell are they blinking?!?!?
And finding a Christmas tree

The tenth thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me:
A mother:
"Batteries Not Included"
No parking spaces
Get a job, ya bum!
Oh, facing my in-laws!
Five months of bills!
Yo-ho, sending Christmas cards
Oh, geez, look at this!
One light goes out, they ALL go out!!!
And finding a Christmas tree

The eleventh thing of Christmas that's such a pain to me:
A male couch potato:
Stale TV specials
"Batteries Not Included"
No parking spaces
She's a witch...I hate her!
Five months of bills!
Oh, I don't even KNOW half these people!
Oh, who's got the toilet paper, huh?
Get a flashlight...I blew a fuse!!
And finding a Christmas tree

The twelfth thing of Christmas that's such a pain to me:
Two men:
Singing Christmas carols
Stale TV specials
"Batteries Not Included"
No parking?!?
Gotta make 'em dinner!
Five months of bills!
I'm not sendin' them this year, that's it!
Shut up, you!
And finding a Christmas tree.

some other stuff

In other news, from the looks of it, I will be transferred to the other office come January.  As far as I know anyway--the list will be posted by the end of this week.  It's gonna be close, meaning that if a few more people sign up, then I'll be spared.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Also, the story abdut the present for Home Fry has a new twist.  The other day, I wrote that we were outbid for an item...looks like there were more out there after all.  In fact, now (by accident) we're bidding on TWO of them, and winning on both.  It's a total of about $90.  Not good.  Fortunately, there's a few days left on the auction, so hopefully someone bids on one of them.  Again, cross your fingers for me.

One more thing--I'm having this uncontrollable urge for turkey clubs.  In the past 4 days, I've had at least one a day...what the hell?  I guess they're so good--with the extra crispy bacon...yummmmm.  I dunno.

til next time...=)

were you naughty or nice?

I only had a 1/2 day of work today...I took it from someone who had 6 days this week.  So I went in for 4 hours, and it's all overtime.  After work, Joey and the kids met me downtown so we could go to the mall.  That's the beauty of working downtown--shopping (among other things) within walking distance. Actually, we lost each other--he thought we were meeting at my job, I thought we were meeting at the bus stop where he was getting off (a two block difference).  After about 15 minutes, we found each other, argued a little about where we were supposed to meet, and we went to see the fat man in the red suit.  You know, Santa!  Sorry--no pics.  As you know, I have no camera (for now, at least--I bought one on eBay yesterday), and the pics they took were too damn expensive.  They got to talk to Santa--that's all they really wanted to do anyway.  They gave him their lists, talked to him for a minute, and off we went.  We looked around the mall for a little bit, since it's been a while since we've been down there.  Then it was time to catch the bus home.  And that was really my day.

final exams: preschool edition

Got this from Jennifer, who made my morning with this...

Just when I thought I was smart, I go and fail an exam given to pre-schoolers. See if you're any smarter than me. See the bus? Pre-schoolers were each asked a very difficult question:

Which way is the bus traveling? And they were only given two choices: left or right.

So, smarty pants, which way is the bus traveling? [I know the answer. Neener...]

So? Look closely. It's right in front of your face. C'mon! You aren't gonna let a bunch of snot-nosed pre-schoolers, all of whom got it correctly, make you look like a dunce are ya? So? Which way? Left or right?

Give up?

The correct answer: The bus is traveling left. Duh!

How did they know? You can't see the door, dummy!!

Little smart asses.

two for one

My challenge is not going so good.  Yesterday, nothing out of the ordinary happened, just your normal "I hate my job" day.  But today made up for yesterday--two things went wrong--and it's only 11am.

Joey and the kids had something like a sleepover last night--they all slept on the living room floor.  Before I get into the rest of the story, let me tell you something about Bum--she's a bed hog, floor hog, whatever.  She moves all over the place.  Back to the story...sometime during the night, she moved under the Christmas tree.  This tree has seen better years, and it was on its last leg--literally.  Joey woke up sometime during the night to find the tree on the floor, decorations scattered around.  Somehow she had bumped the stand, and it came crashing down.  So he rigged it up with a towel for the night.  In the morning, the damn thing fell again.  The leg broke off completely.  We tried to find something to put under it, but nothing would hold.  That's not good.  We came to the conclusion that if it falls again, we're going to take the decorations off, throw it out, and use one of the table top trees we have around the house.  This sucks.

The other thing that happened today had to do with one of the presents for Home Fry.  The main thing he wants this year is the "WWE Real Sounds Arena".  Every online store is sold out of it, and we looked everywhere.  Finally we found it on Ebay, so we bid on it.  This was a few days ago.  Today's the end of the auction.  This morning, someone outbid us.  Now it's out of our price range.  There's other auctions for it, but they won't get here in time for Christmas.

If this is a test from the man upstairs, this makes no sense.  I know there are people who are going through a LOT more than I am, but this is a lot for me.  I don't know how much more of this I can take.  What else can go wrong this month?  Stay tuned and see.

The loss for my challenge today comes as awkwardness.  I unfortunately don't forget some people.  This was a bad thing today.  I was on my way to work this morning, and stopped in the coffee shop to get my afternoon buzz.  On the way out, I noticed one of my old teachers standing in line.  I said his name, he turned around, and he had NO CLUE as to who I was.  Keep in mind, he was my teacher about 13 years ago...duh.  That made me feel like a complete idiot.  I should have kept my mouth shut and kept on walking.  That stuck with me for about half the day.  Yuck.

Other than that, the rest of my day wasn't so bad.  The bank had no idea as to what happened last night, and they're going to replace my card ASAP.  Did I tell you JerkCowardOwner came up here the other day?  I wasn't here--Joey told me about it.  He came up with the check I wrote--it had a big red stamp on it.  He wanted his check back, but Joey told him we threw it out.  Dude was pissed.  Then he wanted the $20 his bank charged him for our check being cancelled.  I don't think so...!  Then he called me a bitch, and Joey told him he had 5 seconds to get off the property.  He did, and that was that.  Owner said he was coming back with "his boys", but we haven't seen or heard from him  Oh well--I always miss the good stuff.

all i want for christmas...

Weekend Assignment #89: Money is no object: What do you really want for Christmas/Hanukkah/The Seasonal Celebration of Your Choice? Shoot for the moon, here folks. Share the thing you'd want to get if everyone you knew was a billionaire and wanted to spend money on you. One caveat: Don't ask to get celebrities of other people for the purposes of, well, you know. We're trying to keep things PG around here. Also: wishing for world peace is all very nice, but come on. Treat yourself.
Extra Credit: Seriously, what would you do if someone got you that thing?

Let's many things, so little space.  I think I'll do this in a little list.

1.  An extreme makeover.  You know, like the kind they do on TV.  The dental implants (especially those), the tummy tuck (I've looked like I was pregnant since I was 17, even though I wasn't), the new know, the whole nine yards.

2.  A new car.  Better yet, make that a new minivan.  This no car thing is driving us nuts, especially with the holiday, and the shopping that goes with it.

3.  A house.  Not too big--just a nice 4 or 5 bedroom, fully stocked with all the major electronics.  And a home theater room.

4.  A college fund for both of the kids.

5.  Of course, a new digital camera, so I could take pics of my new stuff.  And to replace what my stupid self misplaced.

So there's my wishlist.  If anyone decided to get this stuff for me, I wouldn't know what I'd do.  I'd probably cry.  I'd probably pinch myself too.

my december challenge

Penny over at From Here To There... has this "December Challenge" where every day during the month, you tell of a tradition in your family and where it started.  (A little disclaimer:  I think it's a great idea, and I am in no way trying to put down what she's doing.)  I was inclined to participate, but since we have no real traditions in my family, and with the recent events that have been happening to my family, I came up with a little challenge of my own.  Wanna know what it is?

My December Challenge:  Try to go through one day without getting some sort of bad news, have some bad thing happen (even the slightest thing), or whatever.

Don't get me wrong--I'm not trying to see all the bad things that happen--they just stand out so much.  So far this month, I'm not winning this.  Even with all the good things that happened yesterday, something was bound to happen.  And it did, in the form of embarrassment.  After work last night, I had to go to the store to pick up a few things.  When I got to the register, I gave the cashier my check card, telling her that she had to put it in manually...the strip's worn out already, and I've only had it about a month.  So she proceeds to do this, and it comes back that it was denied by the bank.  Twice.  Now I know there's money in there--my paycheck was direct deposited that morning.  And even if it wasn't, there was more than enough in there to cover six bucks, the amount of my purchase.  Anyway, I told the girl to hold my stuff, and I would run over to my bank's ATM machine, which was across the street.  So here I am, running (literally) over to the bank (how convenient, huh?) to get money out of the ATM.  I try using the card, and the damn machine spits it back out at me, saying it's a bad card.  I try it again, before I realize the damn magnetic strip is toast.  DUH.  Fuming, I run over to the house (1/2 block away) and grab all the spare change I have--three dollars.  I go back to the store, and get the essentials of my order, during which I feel about an inch tall.  GRRRRRR.

So what do you think?  What could go wrong today?  Who knows.

gimme 5

Time for Robin's 5'er for this week!

1.  Did you ever wear jingle bells on your shoes when you were a kid?

I can't remember anything jingley (sp?) on my shoes, but I do remember putting those little pacifiers on my shoelaces, and they made noise when I walked.

2.  Thinking about tv you have a favorite jingle?  Something that when you see it sticks in your head all day?

I can't think of any I like...if I do, I'll let you know.  For the other question, I've had the new one stuck in my head for about a week now...O O O...the great big

3.  Gotta little change in your pocket going jingle, jingle, jing?  Do you carry change in your pocket?  Do you toss it in a can when you get home for a rainy day?  Have you dropped any in the Salvation Army bucket yet this year?

I usually don't have any spare change, since I don't really carry cash, anyway.  When I do, it goes toward the kids' milk money for the week.  I haven't seen any Salvation Army buckets yet this year, but that's due to the fact that I haven't really gone shopping at the car, no go.  Online all the way this year.

4.  When you sing Jingle Bells do you sing the nice version or the one where Batman smells and Robin laid an egg?  Hey...for the record I DO NOT Lay eggs.

It depends on the occasion--if I'm singing with my kids, it's the other version.  If it's something else, like in public, it's the nice version.

5.  Take a picture of something jingly...and old lady boobs don't count. Could be a bell...a wind creative. Post it when you are done. If you don't have the ability to take a pic, tell us about something jingly in your home.

No pics for me...=(  I don't think I have anything kids make enough noise for me to

snow day

As I wrote yesterday, I bought the kids an early Christmas present, which REALLY came in handy today--we got 7 inches of the white stuff.  It wasn't the good stuff though--it was the flimsy snow--so as I said before, no igloos yet.  I was up at 6am, since I had a weird dream of cats chasing me, but that's another story.  I looked out the window, and that stuff was coming DOWN!  I think it was coming down at the rate of an inch an hour.  I started to watch tv, since at that point, I knew they at least had a 1 1/2 hour delay.  I tried going back to sleep on the couch, with no luck.  So around 7, I decided to stay up, make some coffee, have a smoke, and start making a path to the street.  As I was outside, Bum greeted me at the door.  She was surprised when she looked outside...the first real snowfall of the year.

I didn't finish the walk til later--instead I went back in to see if the school situation changed.  You know, I hate it when you're looking for your school district, and you just missed it because you walked into the room about 15 seconds too late.  So you have to sit there and wait about 20 minutes for the little thing on the bottom of the screen to go back through all the other schools, in alphabetical order.  It feels like forever!  Eventually, it made it back to Scranton School District, and below it said the magic word...CLOSED.  Snow day!  Three day weekend!  WOOHOO!!

After that, I went and finished sweeping the sidewalk...then we decided it was time to test out the new toys.  And of course, I was the guinea pig.  Now keep in mind, we don't have to go very far for the hill--it's literally outside our front door.  All went well, and the kids just went nuts.  Unfortunately, Bum broke her little saucer a bit, but it still goes awesome.  We were out there for about an hour...then I had to go to work.  When I got home, we went out again...the Christmas lights on the house kept it well lit out there.  We just came in an hour ago, and the kids are in bed already.  Today was a fun day!

my job blows...and snow

As if my job couldn't get any worse...this is gonna be a long 'un.

I was in a good mood this morning, until I got to work.  That's when I noticed the list of people who have to work Christmas was up.  Guess who's on there?  Like I need to tell you.  What's worse about that is not only do I have to work, but most likely I'll end up WALKING to and from work, since it's a Sunday and a holiday.  But I was over that pretty quick, since I kept thinking to myself, I'll probably get a noon start, so I'll at least be able to watch the kids open their presents.

Then I got called to a meeting not too long after I started.  There were only a few of us there, my manager, and the head manager of the office.  She told us that in January, some of us (30, to be exact...there's only about 60 here) were going to be transferred to another office, about 20 miles away.  How they were determining who was going was simple.  First, they would ask the people who came from that office if they wanted to go back.  Second, they would ask for volunteers to go there.  Last, and this (sarcasticly) is what made my day--they would go in reverse seniority to get the rest.  I was devastated with the last one, since I'm not high on that list (I'm like the 10th from the bottom).  I started crying towards the end of the I was walking out, the head manager stopped me.  I told her of my situation, and she told me it wasn't her decision.  I understood that.  She also told me that if I couldn't do it, I should start looking for other employment.  Then she told me to take another 15 minutes, go out and have a smoke, and relax.  So I did.  Didn't really make me feel any better, but who was a free break.

When I came back in, I called Joey.  I thought he was going to have a cow.  Surprising to me, he was supportive and calmed me down.  I told him I was stupid for taking this job in the first place, and he replied by saying he's made mistakes in jobs too.  WOW.  I'm still shocked at that.  After he said that, he told me to calm down, relax, and have a good day.  You know what?  I, for the most part, did just that.  I was in a fairly good mood the rest of the day.

After work, I went over to the mall.  I had to get the kids an early Christmas present for tomorrow.  I searched that mall high and low...the toy store, Bon-Ton, Boscov's, and any other store I could think of that would have them.  As a last resort, I went into Shenk & Tittle, a sports store.  I looked around the store, feeling disappointed that I couldn't find what I wanted.  Just as I was about to walk out the door, there they were.  It was exactly what I was looking for--sleds!!  I got the last two, one red and one purple.  And that just made my day.  I even went to the dollar store and got two glittery bows with the rest of the cash I had on me.  When I got home, I gave them to the kids, and they were so happy!  Tomorrow they can use them--with all the snow we're getting, and they probably won't have school.  They're calling for 7-10" here.  Woohoo!  Too bad I have to go to snow forts yet.

I left something out of the entry I did yesterday.  JerkCowardOwner didn't give back the check I wrote him, instead he wrote out another check from his bank account, made out to "cash".  So he still has the check I wrote out to him last week.  As far as I know, the check I wrote (and put a stop payment on) didn't go through yet, at least not as of Monday.  I'm going to hold on to the check he gave to us, just in case he comes back for it.  I'll wait a week, then try to cash it...not like I'd be losing anything either way.  But if it does go through, Merry Christmas to me (and the rest of the family, of course)!

And I'm still laughing.

no more im'ing

Yay!  I got my java to work!  How, you ask?  I completely crashed my computer, that's how.  I had no choice.  Nothing with java was working...I couldn't access my Bloglines, either.  I tried downloading Java, but it didn't work.  So as a last resort, last night I did a System Restore, and finished it this morning.  So here we are, TADA!  One more reason I hate my puter.

This really sucks--with the java not working, I can't comment on anyone's journals...GRRRRRR.  So if you don't hear from me, don't get mad...I think I'm gonna have to download java again.

In other things, owner came up this morning with a check in the amount that we gave him...I guess he doesn't know I cancelled the check I gave  Owner's a coward--he left the check in the door when Joey went in the house for a minute.  Pathetic.

I'm laughing about this, because it's about the only thing I CAN do about it.  And when someone finally does move in there, I'll be laughing harder, since I know they'll only be there a few months.  That's due to the fact that he has no lease, and he only wants someone in there so he could make his money back (that's what he was gonna do with the girl downstairs).  So HAHAHAHAHA.
